Writers + Web Testers: Usability Test for Indie-Writer Tool (Dev Edits + Character Sheets)
I’m an indie writer building a web app for writers that generates developmental edit memos and character sheets from a fiction manuscript upload (plain text). I’m looking for 3 testers with any of these backgrounds: web/app testing, fiction writing, developmental editing.
What you’ll do:
Sign up and log in.
Upload a short fiction sample (your own work is fine; published or unpublished). Full manuscripts work best, but not required.
Run a job and review the results.
Send me quick feedback covering:
Any bugs/errors (screenshots helpful)
Confusing UI/wording
Performance/latency issues
Quality/usefulness of the output (writer/editor perspective)
Anything you expected but didn’t see
What I’m specifically testing
Signup/login flow (including email/spam folder edge cases)
Upload + word count handling (limit currently 150,000 words)
Genre selection + genre-specific feedback behavior
Output display, readability, and “does this feel usable?”
Deliverable
A short message with:
Bugs found (steps to reproduce)
3–5 usability notes (what felt unclear / what you’d change)
Optional: a quick rating of the dev edit memo + character sheet usefulness
Requirements
Comfortable testing a web app in a desktop browser
Able to provide clear notes (writer/editor feedback is a plus)
