RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is for Office of Admissions and Financial Assistance. 
  • Administer OAFA's Immersion Programmes for International High School Students
    • Partner with internal SMU units on programme delivery and content.
    • Source and liaise with external vendors.
    • Manage the selection and offer process. 
    • Communicate with international participants and their guardians.
    • Oversee all logistics and operations required for programme execution.
  • Support Admissions Operations and Processes during Peak Season
    • Review applications individually to verify the authenticity and accuracy of academic results and other relevant documents.
    • Arrange and set up admissions and scholarship interview sessions for faculty members.
    • Contact applicants to inform them of interview schedules and scholarship outcomes.
    • Follow up with applicants on required documentation and application materials. 
    • Handle requests from applicants to change programmes or appeal admissions decisions. 
    • Update records on SMU's application portal.
    • Respond to applicant queries promptly and professionally.
    • Provide operational support for admissions-related events for offerees.
  • Support Admissions Operations for Advanced Placement (AP) and MOE-Funded H3 Programmes
    • Liaise with Polytechnics and JCs to follow up on student nomination lists.
    • Ensure nominated students complete and submit their applications.
    • Collate H3 applications for review by faculty.
    • Oversee student matriculation processes for AP and H3 programmes.
  • Support Admissions Outreach and Signature Events
    • Provide event management and logistics support for key undergraduate admissions events, including Scholarship Showcase, Open House, Discovery Days, and Destination SMU. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A university degree in any qualification.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Good communication skills and enjoy talking to people. 
  • Meticulous, with strong administrative skills and the ability to multi-task across difference projects.
  • Highly proficient with Office tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Highly proficient with technology tools such as Zoom, and willing to learn new systems.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to respond to different types of personalities across different age groups. 
  • Ability to work on some weekends, if there are interviews or events on Saturdays.
