Autonomous Vehicle Bus Safety Operator

1.                      Autonomous Vehicle Monitoring and Safety Oversight

  • Act as the onboard safety operator for autonomous bus services, ensuring safe and smooth operations throughout each trip.

  • Maintain constant vigilance over vehicle behaviour and surrounding traffic conditions, ready to intervene manually if necessary.

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle readiness and report any anomalies.

2.                      Operational Compliance and Incident Response

  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to any unexpected incidents or system alerts during operations.

  • Document and escalate incidents according to established procedures.

3.                      Passenger Interaction and Service Excellence

  • Provide courteous assistance to passengers boarding and alighting the autonomous bus.

  • Address passenger inquiries and concerns professionally, ensuring a positive travel experience.

  • Support accessibility needs and ensure passenger safety at all times.

4.                      Training and Continuous Learning

  • Participate in regular training sessions on AV systems, emergency procedures, and safety protocols.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in autonomous vehicle technology and operational best practices.

5.                      Vehicle and System Feedback

  • Provide detailed feedback on vehicle performance, route conditions, and system behaviour to technical and operations teams.

  • Assist in data collection and reporting to support continuous improvement of AV services.

6.                      Support for Fleet Operations

  • Collaborate with site leads and fleet coordinators to ensure timely deployment and rotation of vehicles.

  • Assist in basic troubleshooting and coordination with technical teams when required.

7.                      Multi-Site and Special Operations Support

  • Be available for deployment across multiple operational sites as needed.

  • Support special projects, pilot trials, or emergency operations as assigned.

8.                      Flexibility and Reassignment

  • Accept reassignment or redeployment to other locations, roles, or duties as directed by management to support operational needs.


Qualifications and Requirements

1.                      Holds a Class 4 Driving licence and qualified Driving Licence for more than 24 months.

2.                      Prior experience in public transport, fleet operations, or AV environments is an advantage.

3.                      Strong situational awareness and ability to remain calm under pressure.

4.                      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5.                      Must be able to lift heavy objects and able to perform onboard duties safely.

6.                      Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and across various deployment locations.

7.                      Flexibility to accept reassignment or redeployment as required.
